The tidal organ offers a new way of listening and reveal the interconnectedness of all life through water and sound. The water with its fluidity and capacity of memory becomes a vessel that can hold and mix voices amplifying silenced sounds of the planet and allowing us to listen to the often overlooked dialogues of earth. The language of water is a powerful reminder of the need to harmonize with the rhythms of the natural world and reimagine our relationship with time.

The tidal organ in this project is inspired by the Hydraulis, as well as the sea organ in Zadar, Croatia that builds on the same concept as the Hydraulis. The tidal organ defers from the Hydraulis as it is not played by human hands but by the sea itself – the tides, and the waves pushes water through a sound collector which compresses air and sends it out though acoustical pipes. Tides, wind and waves are all participating in composing the sound – the water becomes a musician.
