A classroom is built for Mosses Confort Home Foundation in Boma Ng’ombe in Tanzania.

In the project in, Boma Ngómbe in Tanzania, funded by Nøhr & Sigsgaard Architects, we chose to work with different themes and building elements inspired from the area. The high foundation that both protects the building from the large amounts of rain and functions as a piece of furniture forms the framework for an outdoor living room. The house is to be built in hand-laid local bricks, which are produced on a small brick factory in Arusha. We have chosen to work with a large overhang that must protect the building from rain and create places to stay. The double overhang is added on the arrival side of the building. It is an element that is often overlooked in many local buildings, and which creates a colonnade connecting the classroom and it covered outdoor area.
